With apologies in advance to Silvestro. I was just settling in to write a column today and I noticed it; spent the day dealing with it.

I just took a Boss 302 to Vegas for the weekend. My first time pulling up to the hotel, I accidently pulled into the valet lane at the Aria. The valet looked like he may have been 16 or 17 and was really really excited. Nooooppeeeee. (Not that I was allowed to valet the car since it was provided by my company, but still a big nope had it been mine).

They didn't even tell you about it? You had to "notice it?" Bastards. At least it won't hold water anymore.

Living in Las Vegas I see / hear a lot of this.
When the C6 first came out there was a valet who wanted to have some fun in the garage... mind you, these garages are FILLED with security cameras. Anyways, this kid took a turn a little too sharp, a lot too fast, and went head first into one of the really large structural poles. Watching the security tape, the kid crashes it, jumps out, and then just books it off the property.
Self Park FTW.

Put that on the list of things that send my blood boiling in .01 seconds. Good luck.

Didn't say a word. I noticed it this morning and flipped out on the restaurant staff — not the best idea but I was livid, and I never really get mad. Valet insurance company will deal with it, and the ensuing diminished value claim.

Yeah, this is the last time I'll use a valet. Ever. If there is no other option, I will bring the Cube. No amount of damage to the Cube will upset me.

Man that's cool.
When the warranty ends on this (5 yrs) I'll get a newer one pursue something like that for this one. Right now, I need it to be a highly competent daily driver!!!

Yeah, I'm regularly tempted by high-miler low-priced 3rdgen RRs on eBay to do this too.
Then I remember the catastrophic unreliability and reconsider. =P

Good luck fighting with the Valet companies...at least here in Miami. They basically tell you to f**k off, they aren't responsible for damages caused. I even called the police when they crashed my (then) new Touareg and got a police report and I still couldn't get the company to pay for damages.

Not being as on top of these things as you are, is that a normal insurance thing to cover diminished value?
I had a number of small claims prior and have never asked or received it. Admittedly my cars tend to be in the 5k-25k range so maybe its something with more expensive cars.
